Rupinder Jagdev
Solicitor - Director
SRA ID: 477804
I was appointed as Director of the Family and Child Care department based in the Birmingham office in November 2021. I joined Duncan Lewis in November 2012 as a trainee solicitor in the Housing department in Dalston and completed my training contract seats in Housing, Family and Child Care. In December 2013, I transferred to the newly opened Birmingham office to complete my final training contract seat. I qualified as a solicitor in May 2014 and became a member of the Children Law Accreditation Scheme in July 2019. I am a recommended lawyer in The Legal 500 directory. Although I deal with all aspects of family and child care matters, I primarily deal with public and private law proceedings, including care proceedings, injunctions and child arrangements. I undertake the majority of my own advocacy and represent children through their guardians, parents and other family members. I have also represented parents in the High Court in wardship proceedings and child abduction matters. Over the years, I have built up significant experience in dealing with cases involving non-accidental injuries, interlinked immigration issues, forced marriages, honour based violence, FGM and allegations of sexual abuse. I am committed to working in the legal aid sector and undertaking pro bono work, whereby I regularly attend pro bono clinics with local domestic violence agencies and refuges. I am currently a volunteer at the pro bono family law advice clinic in conjunction with Birmingham City University and I am a mentor to students at the University of Law. I am fluent in Punjabi.
