SRA ID: 7007885
I am a Solicitor in the Housing department at Duncan Lewis Solicitors based at the head office in the City of London. I have considerable experience in housing law with particular interest in homelessness matters including statutory reviews and appeals; housing conditions claims; injunctions; judicial review challenges; and assisting tenants to defend possession proceedings. I also have an interest in areas such as discrimination with a focus on Equality Act 2010 claims; Care Act 2014 challenges; and Environmental Act 1979. I enjoy taking on complex and unique matters to broaden and develop my knowledge and understanding of housing law. I also regularly attend training sessions to be able to identify novel points of law. I am able to correspond with my clients in any manner that suits their needs. I am available to meet new clients face to face and also have considerable experience in advising and assisting clients remotely by way of Microsoft Teams and Zoom. As Duncan Lewis has been paperless since 2019, where it is appropriate to do so, I am comfortable receiving instructions, advising and assisting remotely, using electronic means to suit all client needs. I can understand and speak Bangla for those clients who struggle to communicate in English and speak Bangla as their first language. My proficiency in Bangla has proved of great value in effectively communicating with my Bangladeshi clients. I am eager to be a voice for vulnerable people so that they can be heard and are aware of their legal rights. I vow to continue working with clients to achieve the best possible outcomes. As well as managing and progressing my caseload, I regularly engage in pro bono work by advising victims of domestic violence in relation to their housing enquiries.
