Advice on variation of maintenance application

Child Arrangements & Divorce
I can wholeheartedly recommend Rachel Nicholl, Grace Savage, Eden Palmer and the rest of the Horsham team. I reached out to the firm under extremely stressful circumstances (having received aggressive and unpleasant correspondence from a city firm instructed by my daughter's father which demanded response within 24 hours). From the very first meeting with Rachel and Grace, I felt reassured that I would be supported, listened to, and given appropriate and sensible guidance and advice. Ultimately, I am so pleased with the outcome, and know that I could only have achieved this with their team's support. Thanks to their hard work, I am now able to focus on building a new life for myself and my child and moving forwards as a coparent.

A long and winding road
My relationship with FLP began shortly before the first lockdown, only ending more than three years later after a protracted divorce process drawn, out further by court backlogs and pandemic-related delays. FLP were a delight to work with: thoroughly professional and courteous at all times. I was particularly impressed by their willingness to carefully explain the intricacies of process that can at times be complex and stressful. I cannot recommend them highly enough - lovely people to work with.

Find a solicitor who specialises in the area of the law you require
If you are unfortunate enough to be making a tortuous TOLATA claim on a property as the non resident co-owner, my advice based on my experience would be to avoid this firm. Seek out a firm with more specialist knowledge. My solicitor was happy to bat letters back and forth with a hostile other side as my bill mounted significantly. I have since discovered from a more specialist solicitor that much of the correspondence was irrelevant to my case.

As a firm, we generate a significant amount of work from the recommendations of professional colleagues and clients and as such, it is always disappointing to read a negative review. In TOLATA cases there are often significant disputes as to fact on a range of legal and emotive issues, and solutions are most often achieved by compromise through communications or through successful findings after a trial. The former may not work and incurs costs trying and the latter is significantly more expensive. We are a solution focussed firm and are always conscious of the risk and costs of tribunal-based litigation. TOLATA cases tend to be front-loaded cost-wise, and it is sensible to involve Counsel for an early conference to assess risk, assist with strategy, and costs protection. We are confident we are a specialist firm but equally, we recognise your experience is not as we would have hoped for. We wish you well in resolving matters.

Rachel Nicoll handled my problem in a very professional and proactive manner. She always kept me informed and up to date as progress was made. Her negotiation skills are excellent.
I sincerely hope that this matter is a once in a lifetime experience. However, if I found myself needing legal assistance in the future, I would certainly contact her.
