He is actively involved in supporting the profession and seeking to influence developments within the area of criminal law through his chairmanship of The Law Society’s Criminal Law Committee. Richard is also a member of the Law Society’s governing Council. He has been recognised for his work in seeking to improve the provision of criminal legal aid and in 2020 Richard received a Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year award in recognition of his work in developing safer conditions for police interviews during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Best support and help
Having just gone through 4 year process, feeling ashamed, scared, lost and in a dark lonely place, I couldn’t have survived through to the other side without their help, advice and most crucially the support. They were with me every step of the way.
Explained what everything ment clearly and could tell when I was lost, upset and didn’t understand to what was happening so they would be patient and helped me to have it sink in and understand. There is nothing I can write on here that will express their excellence and how grateful I am to have them with me every step of the way.
I pray I never need them again but if I did I would only ever want Richard and his team. They are all wonderful, professional, kind, caring, truthful and empathetic.
No matter what you’re facing they will go above and beyond to do the best they can for you.
Having admitted guilt from start, they ensured I was sentenced fairly and justly so now I can rebuild my life as without them I felt it could be so much worse.
Just be honest and true and with them at your side you can survive.

Probably the worst legal aid experience I've ever had.

Thank you for your email I have just returned home after finishing checking out a bail address hence late reply.
I will discuss with Mr Atkinson tomorrow but would suggest as you are clearly dissatisfied with our Firm and you lack confidence in us , I request you to instruct another Firm to act for you .

Thank you for your response and for reinforcing my original thoughts and opinions of Tucker Solicitors.
Please rest assured that I would never have chosen your company, and certainly won’t in the future. One of your colleagues was allocated to me as a Duty Solicitor.
I find it quite disappointing that you’re obviously so secure in your position as a provider of Legal Aid/ Assistance that you feel you can respond the way you have.
I will obviously be forwarding your response and my thoughts on the services you provide, at Public Expense, to people I hope will take my concerns with more seriousness and forward thinking attitude.
I have no more interest in you “checking out a bail address” than it would appear you do with the use of grammar and punctuation in your written correspondence. Maybe your words would have been better used assuring me that some positive action would be taken to up your companies game.
Is it possible both you and Mr Atkinson are of similar thinking?
Finally, if you wish to cancel Mr Saaed’s attendance at Maidstone PS then do me the courtesy of informing both Chief Constable Smith and Chief Inspector McLellan. Ch Insp McLellan will then be able to inform me of a new appointment and more capable legal representation.
I have copied both of the above mentioned Officers in to this email to save you any undue effort.

UK’s best
Right from the start they gave help, they kept me calm and took care of everything. I had the best help all the way. The knowledge and experience they had was far superior to the other solicitors I had seen and it gave me the confidence justice would win.
