financial settlement
Having had a very long drawn out process of trying to negotiate a financial split from my ex husband using a different solicitor, it was refreshing to be told with some degree of certainty what we could realistically expect to happen. Given that it was not a huge case involving vast sums of money, at no time was I made to feel that it didn't matter or wasn't important. Rather, I felt understood and listened to for which I am grateful.

Matrimonial matters

Professionalism, patience & persistence
Philip Hoddell and the team worked with me on my divorce and subsequent financial settlement for 7+ years. It was a complex case where the goal was to avoid court and keep it as fair and amicable as possible. While it took a long while with both sides often procrastinating and failing to make progress Philip and the team applied the appropriate amount of nudging, encouragement, and advice to get to a full and final settlement for all parties concerned. Philip also pushed back the unreasonable demands of the other side when I may have capitulated sooner. He helped me focus on the result despite the emotion and angst I endured through the process.

Divorce Advice and Guidance
I was provided excellent support and advice by Philip Hoddell who is unquestionably a first class solicitor. The biggest compliment I can pay Philip is that he listened very carefully to the brief I set out for him at the outset and then followed it throughout my proceedings - often, in fact, reminding me at times of high stress and stretched emotions. Philip was always sympathetic to the evolving circumstances. His communication was swift, clear and efficient and the advice sound. At its best divorce is unpleasant but having Philip in my corner helped tremendously. He is ably supported by a highly professional wider team at Birkett Long and I could not recommend highly enough.

Assistance with Divorce and Financial Remedy Order

Divorce advice
Phillip Hoddell is a great guy to have on your side! He advised me following my ex-husband's arrest, and the subsequent divorce.
Phillip helped me through a very difficult time in my life and was always pragmatic, balanced and above all kind. His advice is detailed and thorough and his PA Marina is wonderfully efficient. He has a great team and Mel also assisted me when Philip was on holiday, providing continuity and ensuring things were not delayed at all.
Unfortunately my ex decided to drag things through court and so it all went on for quite a long time - however things did not go as my ex wanted, thanks to the excellent preparations by Philip and his recommended barrister! I had a good outcome.
I highly recommend Phillip and his team, and I'm very grateful for the support and advice provided.
