Siobhan Thompson
Head of Family & Director
Legal 500 "Next Generation Partner" 2023/24 Legal 500 "Recommended Lawyer" 2022 I am a director of Pardoes Solicitors and Head of Family Law, practicing at our offices in Bridgwater, Taunton, Yeovil, and West Bradley. I practice all areas of family law but I am currently dedicated to public law proceedings in respect of children. I act for both children and parents and has significant experience and expertise in complex cases involving non-accidental injury, child death, sexual abuse, complex medical issues, serious abuse, international issues, competent children, human rights issues, and very vulnerable adults. I have been personally mentioned in judgments by judges impressed with her work, and in one case for her “tenacity without which the right decision would not have been reached.” I acted for a mother in care proceedings in Northampton, pursuing a successful claim for damages for human rights breaches against the local authority. That client received a lump sum by way of damages, and the local authority was also ordered to pay the costs of the care proceedings, which is rare. I was nominated for Family Law Solicitor of the Year (Law Society Awards sponsored by Jordan's Publishing in 2018) by counsel at Four Paper Buildings after their involvement in a case where I was instructed by a father who had suffered a stroke with catastrophic consequences, including significant communication difficulties. The case involved the removal of children from their mother's care after a police investigation uncovered brothels run by the mother, employing minors as prostitutes and dealing them drugs.

A Family Law matter resolved speedily and efficiently
I required assistance for an unforeseen circumstance that cropped up regarding an earlier relationship. I contacted several providers who were either not capable of dealing with the case or they stressed a vast sum of money needed before doing anything.
On contacting Pardoes my description of the situation was immediately understood and an initial meeting was arranged. At that meeting with an expert senior staff member, the full implications were described to me and my father, and a way forward explained, including initial deposit sum to start work. A defence case was outlined at the meeting and and the way forward proposed to thwart the allegations. These were later detailed as part of the work prior to the court hearing. The court hearing was handled very professionally and a sensible agreement was made to close the matter.
Overall, an excellent service was provided and I would recommend Pardoes, certainly for Family Law matters.
