Ruqayah Begum
Solicitor - Solicitor
SRA ID: 649029
I qualified as a solicitor in June 2020 and joined the Duncan Lewis Child Care department in July 2023. Based at the City of London office. Prior to joining Duncan Lewis, I worked as a family solicitor in Berkshire. During that time, I collaborated closely with domestic violence organisations such as DASH, Hestia and Women Aid. From a young age, I have been driven to assist vulnerable individuals. I was actively involved in volunteering and received the V100 award for dedicating over 100 hours to a charity called Aik Saath (together as one). Additionally, I served the local community in my role as a local Councillor from May 2019 until May 2023. I have experience in various areas working family law, including children law (live with orders, specific issue orders, prohibited steps orders, children arrangement orders and termination of parental responsibility), domestic abuse (Non-Molestation and Occupation Orders), divorce, child care, transfer of tenancy and financial matters. I have also conducted my own advocacy whereby I have successfully obtained Non-Molestation and Occupation Orders in favour of my clients. In respect of care matters, I have represented parents during the PLO stage and in applications for care orders, supervision orders, placement orders and special guardianship orders. Throughout my career I have handled a range of complex cases involving physical, sexual, psychological, and emotional abuse, neglect, substance abuse, domestic violence, mental health issues and parental alienation.
