Associate

Matthew is an Associate in the Personal Injury team. He specialises in industrial deafness claims. He has a record of settling cases to the satisfaction of his clients, while focusing on making the process compassionate, simple and straightforward. Matthew has specialist knowledge of the law as it relates to noise-induced hearing loss. He regularly works with clients who have been trying to live with the condition for many years, frequently due to former working environments, such as in steel factories or coal mines. He has vast experience working in complex cases, which may involve more than one former employer, and securing maximum compensation for clients. He appears regularly at the Personal Injury Court and has instructed counsel at the Court of Session. Matthew has previously worked more broadly in personal injury law, including disease claims, road traffic accidents, workplace accidents, public liability claims, fatal accident claims and medical negligence claims. Matthew is a key part of the successful team which led to Jones Whyte winning both the Scottish Legal Awards and Law Awards of Scotland ‘Firm of the Year’ in 2021 and to its continuing success as one of Scotland’s fastest growing law firms.
