I rang initially and spoke with Jane who took details of the situation which I needed advice on. She only wanted proof of ID and my POA document. I offered to provide additional
Paperwork but this was declined and I was subsequently offered a 20 minute phone appointment which I was led to believe would be free advice to see if the solicitor could help. The solicitor rang and I spent most of the 20 minutes repeating all the information I had given Jane. He said he could not really advise me without seeing the agreement I had been asked to sign and asked me to send it over. I could have done this prior to the appointment. He then said he would have to let his colleague look at the agreement to see if he could advise me and he may charge me an hour of his time to do so. The phone appointment was a complete waist of time as I could have given all the information to Jane prior to the call for the solicitor to look at and at least have been prepared when he rang and known what he was talking about. Didn’t give me any confidence during the phone call that he had any knowledge about this kind of situation with local authority. He even said that the local authority could put a charge on our family home. This is not the case. He did not give me any confidence that he had any knowledge in this area at all or that they would even be able to help me so not wasting my money.
