Darren Heard is a Senior Associate and works in the Commercial Property department at WBW Solicitors. He joined the firm in 2019 and is based in our Newton Abbot office. Darren specialises in Commercial Property work, including business lease drafting and renewals. He has extensive experience in other property work, such as site acquisitions and plot sales for developer clients, agricultural property, residential conveyancing, matrimonial conveyancing, and mortgage work, both commercial and residential. He previously worked for a major legal 500 firm in the South West where he dealt with equity release work on behalf of mainstream lenders and elderly clients as well as Commercial and Residential Property work. He has worked in the South West throughout his legal career and has experience of advising on local issues particular to the area such as properties affected by local covenants, unusual construction such as cob walled properties and unregistered conveyancing (common with rural property in the South West). He has also advised on and successfully dealt with other matters such as adverse possession claims and has over 20 years practise experience. Darren studied at CILEX Law School, qualifying as a Chartered Legal Executive in 2008. Darren went on to study as a Solicitor at De Montfort University and qualified as a Solicitor in 2018 achieving a graduate LLB and a distinction in Commercial Conveyancing practice with De Montfort University. Outside of work Darren enjoys tennis, motorcycling and cycling around the stunning Devon countryside. He enjoys watching rugby, including the Exeter Chiefs, and also likes watching Moto GP and usually goes to Silverstone once a year to watch the motor racing. Outside of his hobbies, Darren enjoys spending time with his wife and two children.
