Paralegal at Hill Twine Solicitors Ltd

Juliet Osborne

Paralegal

I was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2021 and I am thrilled to take the next step in my career with Hill Twine Solicitors. In my role as a Business Paralegal I assist in business management and compliance, and provide case work support to the firm’s lawyers and clients. Prior to pursuing a career in criminal law, I worked for several years in Financial Crime Prevention in the City of London. In 2019 I undertook the Graduate Diploma in Law, with a view to becoming a barrister with specific focus on criminal defence, appeals, and defendants’ pre- and post-conviction rights. I was awarded a distinction in the GDL, achieving some of the highest marks in my cohort for my research on ethical issues, and the erosion of the right to silence in criminal proceedings. I proceeded to complete the Bar Practice Course, where I was awarded a ‘Very Competent’ grade, while also competing in, and winning, several advocacy competitions. Alongside the course, I worked part-time with a human rights lawyer, mounting judicial review challenges to disproportionate strip-searching measures within prisons and decisions relating to release on temporary licence, and conducting research into the lawfulness of release under investigation (RUI). Prior to joining Hill Twine Solicitors I worked for a prestigious civil law firm with international reach.
