Solicitor - Managing Partner

SRA ID: 160267

As Managing Partner of Morecrofts, my role is to lead on the firm’s strategy and profile, train and develop our people, manage our client relationships, and ensure that we are compliant with our regulators. As well as my busy role at Morecrofts, I am the Chair of the Board of Liverpool and Sefton Chamber of Commerce, overseeing the strategy of the organisation. I am also Vice-Chair of the Liverpool Branch of the Institute of Directors (IoD) and a member of the Professional and Business Services Board at the Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) as well as being on the advisory board for the SEARCH research project at Liverpool Hope University. I was President of Liverpool Law Society in 2015-16. I am involved in several ventures working with the advancement of women in leadership and I enjoy speaking to school and university students about career development, as well as being an ambassador for Women in the Law UK. I have spoken locally and nationally on issues such as female advancement and leadership and allyship within the legal profession, as well as more widely on matters affecting business in the Liverpool City Region, and culture and development issues in the workplace. I have been fortunate to be the recipient of several awards and accolades, including the “Spirit of the City” Award at the Merseyside Woman of the Year Awards in 2018, and the Professional of the year at the Liverpool Women in Business Awards in two successive years; as well as being named on the inaugural Northern Power Women Power List. In 2019 I was honoured to be awarded national “Woman Solicitor of the Year” in the Law Society Excellence Awards, and more recently I was presented with a Special Recognition Award by Liverpool Law Society for services to the local legal community. I qualified as a Solicitor in 1993 and joined Morecrofts in 1999 as a Solicitor in the litigation team, specialising in high value, complex personal injury claims, particularly those for survivors of childhood abuse and victims of local authority negligence. Whilst developing my career I also undertook other litigation such as judicial reviews, education law, contentious probate, and data protection claims. I developed an interest in management and undertook a post graduate diploma in Legal Practice Management at Manchester Metropolitan University, subsequently becoming Managing Partner of the firm in 2014. I am a trustee of the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation and was for over 20 years involved in the CAB service at board level, in North Liverpool. Outside of work-related interests I enjoy playing tennis and I am President of Mersey Bowmen Tennis Club, one of the oldest clubs in the country, and regularly play in the Liverpool Tennis League. I also love swimming and ski-ing, I have a passion for photography and enjoy walking and wildlife watching; quizzes, reading, and watching most sports, in particular Liverpool FC, and GB tennis and athletics.

House purchase

5

Alison Love was my solicitor for my house purchase. She was fantastic from start to finish. I did not have much experience with the process but she fully explained each step and kept me in the loop every step of the way. She was fast and preemptive of any issues which further sped up the process. She was professional and friendly throughout the entire process providing me with honest and insightful legal advice. I am so glad Alison was my solicitor because it made a difficult house purchase smooth and easy. For any further legal requirements, I will be contacting Alison and I cannot recommend her enough to anyone. She was recommended to me by a friend and I will be passing her details to my family and friends as well.
