Highly recommended divorce solicitors
Smith May Solicitors have helped me through my divorce. From the first moment I had direct contact with my solicitor. She gave me legal advice and helped me make important decisions. It was encouraging for me to know that she was there when I had to communicate with my difficult husband. The price that was quoted at the beginning was a fixed amount, but as the process dragged from the initial 6 months to the two and a half years that it took to achieve the Final Order, the price also increased due to more emails, letters, phone calls and financial calculations. Even so, the price was a fraction of what other firms quoted.
I highly recommend Smith May if like me you feel alone, you don't want to spend thousands and thousands of pounds in your divorce, and you need a sensible voice guiding you through the process.

Professional and outstanding service
Bridget has supported and represented me throughout the past 2 years whilst I went through the process of my divorce. It was very complicated and emotionally difficult as our son is 9 and we had a family home to legally sort in our financial settlement.
Bridget has always been professional and clear with all information and never once made me feel like I was troubling her. Bridget listened to me and gave me clear guidance on what would happen next at each stage of the divorce process. I would 100% recommend Bridget and her law firm.

Delayed reaction
Divorce is a difficult process, involving a veritable cocktail of emotions including loss, grief, disappointment, anger and so much more. I had not initiated divorce proceedings, and although we had been living separately for a time, there had been no discussion of divorce. Attempts to discuss anything might frequently be met with words like, "let's just let that slip away, shall we?"
On being told that he had applied on the web for a divorce on the grounds of my unreasonable behaviour, I was aghast. He was apparently suicidally depressed, did not want to use lawyers, and I was very anxious about the whole situation on a number of levels. In many ways I wanted a lawyer as a buffer against him - in short, for my own protection. I couldn't have found a better lawyer to act for me than Bridget, who was supportive, but in an action oriented way. In the emotional maelstrom of divorce it is easy to confuse and to forget information offered, but in the then new web based divorce process, Bridget was prepared to adapt the process in configuring a new reality based on a life without the supposed shelter of marriage.

Conflict resolution-based no-fault divorce
My ex and I sought solicitors w Conflict Resolution qualifications for our divorce. Even though this was a no-fault situation, SMS ably guided us with care and empathy through what is never an easy process. While it took a little longer to craft a Court Order petition that the Judge couldn't refuse (a year to be exact), the positive judgement was returned overnight! Thanks SMS for everything.
