If I could leave 0 stars, I would...
If I could give 0 stars then I would choose to. Whilst the work was being completed and the house sale was being progressed, the communication was awful.
I never spoke to the solicitor assigned to us directly until the completion day when she rang to tell us that the house was legally ours. Every other dealing on the phone was either an unsuccessful call to someone on reception or a conversation with the legal assistant. Emails were not answered until they had been chased multiple times, often via phone.
I work in financial services myself and if I were giving the level of service that Glover Priest were, we would have an awful lot of complaints and unhappy clients on our hands.
Glover Priest were recommended by a friend but they provided such incredibly poor service. I would strongly advise against anyone that was thinking of using them.

Poor Communication
If it was possible to give zero stars I would. Julia the lead solicitor was good and communicated well. However the team below her who deal with all communications and transactions were appalling. I would email them numerous times without a response and would only get a response when I raised it with higher management.
The team asked me for information on the exchange date that they should have requested on the day I approached them for example they told me my keys where due to be collected in 2 hours time. I had still not been asked for my deposit to be sent and the solicitor in question did not have a clue how much deposit was required and how I should send this to them. I had to go into my bank and transfer the funds same day transfer which occurred additional charges.
Numerous times I called the office to try and speak to someone but they insisted all updates would be through a portal that is not at all fit for purpose.

Extremely
I had an extremely frustrating experience with Glover Priests during a six-month conveyancing process marked by poor communication and incompetence. I frequently had to initiate contact, as they rarely kept me informed. In fact, there were entire months where I heard nothing from them. The only time they called me was days after I had already moved into the property.
Their online system was unreliable, with many tasks marked as complete long after they actually were, making it impossible to track progress. Communication was so poor that even the seller's solicitors couldn't get in touch with them, leading to threats of stopping the sale altogether.
The final straw was when they forgot to pay the stamp duty, which I only noticed hours before the contract exchange, an oversight that could have had consequences. The unnecessary stress and anxiety caused by their lack of professionalism were unacceptable.
Lloyds TSB should seriously reconsider recommending Glover Priests. I certainly won't be using them again and would advise others to avoid them as well

Many thanks for taking the time to leave your review, I am sorry to hear that the transaction didn't go as expected. On reviewing your file, the reason the transaction took six months is due to the chain not being ready, something I see you were made aware of. Unfortunately all transactions are as fast as the slowest person in the chain. Two months prior to the completion, you were reported to and advised we were ready to complete but the chain took some time to catch up with your transaction. The online system you refer to is something provided by Lloyds Banking Group. At no time did we "forget to pay the stamp duty", when provided with your initial completion statement for your approval prior to completion it required an amendment which was done on the same day. The stamp duty owed was paid to HMRC on completion.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. I am disappointed to hear your experience wasn't as you expected. On reviewing your file I can see Julia spoke to you on 74 separate occasions giving both updates and details around the transaction. 74 different contacts during a transaction is substantially higher than we would expect to see during any of our conveyancing processes and the levels of updates recorded seem well in excess of the 'norm'. During the transaction the sellers representation gave 3 days notice to complete on the transaction to which Julia did complete in this extremely short timeframe so no unnecessary delays are evident. While reviewing your file, Julia did ask for more information but this was directly linked to the requests being made by your lender in order for them to agree to release the funds for the transaction, we always try and maintain our requests to a minimum but we have no control on lender requirements during any of our transactions.

Professional Service with Room for Better Communication
Overall, my experience with Julia was good. She had great knowledge and spotted red flags in other properties I considered. She handled the purchase of three properties for me: the first two fell through due to issues on the other side, but the last one went quickly. However, communication with the firm was sometimes slow and I often had to follow up multiple times for answers. It would be better to receive some response rather than silence, even if it is just a brief update (or confirmation that there is no update). They should be more realistic about their timelines, as it seems that they have a heavy workload. Despite these issues, it was a pleasure working with them. They were very helpful, accurate, and ensured everything was sorted without mistakes.

Sold our 3 bed house in Kings Heath

A Pleasant and Profesionnal Experience
I had a pleasant and professional experience working with Julia and her team on the sale of one of my properties. Julia kept me informed throughout the process and ensured everything was completed on time, even when the solicitors on the other side were falling short which could have resulted in tax implications.
