Jodie Cooper
Trainee Solicitor
As a Trainee Solicitor in the Residential Real Estate team, I provide support to our legal teams. I chose this career because I want to help people. That is why I pursued a career in the legal field. My experience at Kent Law Clinic, particularly in handling a Constructive Unfair Dismissal case and a Variation of a Child Arrangement Order, underscored the essential role of solicitors and the stress clients face. It is this opportunity to make a difference that sparks that flame. When working at the law clinic, I was noted to be meticulous, detail-oriented, and confident in my ability, with a constant focus on client care; this skill set is why clients choose to work with me. At university, I volunteered with the Homeless Outreach Society. The society was sponsored by Greggs, and we would go on a set route around Canterbury and give food to people experiencing homelessness. I also volunteered for three years at my local Primary School, running a dance club for 4-8 year olds. In my spare time, I love staying busy. This year, my partner and I decided to take on a renovation project and completely renovated our flat. I enjoy going on evening walks and playing badminton every Sunday morning. However, my technique is laughable - I often forget I'm supposed to move my legs! Most of my time outside of work is spent with family and friends. I always aim to do something special on Sundays, which I call "Sunday Fun-Day," a designated day for little to no work. In 2022, I graduated with a First-Class Law degree LLB from the University of Kent. Following this, I embarked on a part-time LPC with the University of Law while teaching A-Level and BTEC Law full-time at USP College.
