Director & Solicitor
SRA ID: 384052
I am a Director in the Private/Business Immigration department at Duncan Lewis Solicitors, having joined in January 2018. I have been providing immigration advice and assistance since 2001.
I deal with a wide variety of immigration law cases, including business immigration under the Points Based System (PBS), advising high-net-worth and skilled individuals on extending Tier 2 (General) visas, spousal applications and applications for British citizenship. I have an expertise in handling complex appeals in the Immigration Tribunals, the High Court, Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court. These matters include deportation appeals and country guidance cases.
I assist both individuals and businesses and have a particular expertise in assisting clients with immigration applications under EU law. I often advise employers and provide bespoke training on subjects including compliance with the Home Office's 'Prevention of Illegal Working Regime' and how to use the online sponsorship management system. Thanks to my expertise, I additionally provide internal training to lawyers on a regular basis, covering a variety of immigration topics.
Due to the complex nature of many of my cases, such as those which have gone to the Supreme Court, I often receive significant press and media attention and am frequently invited to appear on television, radio and in the UK press to advise and comment on legal issues. I was described as “an admirable solicitor and advocate” by the Court of Appeal in the case of HS Afghanistan where I represented my client before the Immigration Tribunal. I am a 'Recommended Individual' in The Legal 500 for my work involving business immigration.
I am accredited as a Supervisor and Level 2 Senior Caseworker under the Law Society’s Immigration and Asylum Accreditation Scheme which means I have demonstrated the required level of competence and knowledge in immigration and asylum law as defined by the Society. Additionally, I am an official mentor for students at the University of Westminster's Law School, helping develop their personal and professional growth by sharing my knowledge, expertise and legal insights through the award-winning University of Westminster Careers and Employability Service (CES) Mentoring Scheme.
I am fluent in Farsi, Dari, Pashto, Urdu and Hindi.
