Awful Experience
I wouldn’t have given 1 star but you have to.
This firm dealt with the estate of my Nan - although on the paperwork, they named one of the executors as the deceased & even after pointing this out, official paperwork was still sent with the error. Very poor.
No “dear Mrs…. Or Hi on emails - just a one liner, with no, very best regards.
Took relevant identification into the office in Maghull, was informed all was fine with it, only to get an email over FIVE weeks later saying needed more.
Repeatedly asking my Uncle to do stuff via the internet when we made it clear from the very beginning, he has no access to it.
This was all with the sale of my Nan’s home. We were lucky the girl who was buying it was patient - as it took over a year for them to sort stuff out. Even though they knew it was a flat, they didn’t request all the necessary information, paperwork etc from the start - yet surely they would know to do that?
Then all the “extra” costs.
With regards to the actual estate of my Nan, this is now being dealt with by the same firm of solicitors, only a different person.
They knew from the very beginning that two of the beneficiaries lived in the US & Canada. Left until last to ask for their information. Gave them emails, as far quicker & easier. Also provided postal details.
I explained that the Canadian Mail Service were on strike & that no mail was being accepted in UK Post Offices due to the massive backlog.
So of course they sent a letter via the post.
Then in the New Year, because they hadn’t had a reply, they emailed - advising they had written to them a whole 12 months previous. Yet another error on the paperwork.
There was mistake after mistake after mistake. Quite a few emails were not replied to when they were being advised if yet more mistakes. I could go on & on - but they aren’t worth it. We are still waiting for all of this to be finalised - my little Nan died two years ago.
I would recommend you deffo look elsewhere - certainly based on the dealings my family experienced and still experiencing.
The solicitor named on all our correspondence wasn’t actually the one who was messaging - I assume it was her secretary.
But it was obviously her signature on the correspondence.

House sale
You have recently dealt with a house sale which I part owned. As I am in Suffolk and the property in Skelmersdale, I appreciate how you dealt with things considering the distance. Thank you very much

Amazing, excellent, from start to finish
I was lucky to have Shirley as my solicitor as I dealt with a complicated issue that arose during my house sale, her advice and support was always excellent, she always showed patience, was friendly and professional.
Shirley also helped me with the purchase of my next house which fell through due to the owners misrepresentation, at this time her advice was excellent and it was only that she represented the house I did end up buying that I did not use her services in this.
I would definitely recommend Shirley and her team for any aspect of house sale and purchases, excellent service 100% recommend.

Approachable and friendly company
I am aware that Winifred used Maxwell Hodge for legal matters over a number of years. They were obviously very satisfied with the assistance you provided. My experience of Maxwell Hodge is much more recent and delivered through my role as deputy of the court of protection. However, I share their absolute confidence in the support of a very approachable and friendly company
